Caloundra City Enterprises is an initiative of the Caloundra City Council, its sole shareholder and main funding source.

Our formation in March 2006, followed extensive consultation with the Caloundra business community, facilitated by a voluntary Economic Development Taskforce.

The taskforce supported Caloundra City’s need to diversify its industry base, to reduce its dependence on the cyclical tourism, retail and construction sectors and to generally take a more professional, private sector-driven approach to economic development planning and implementation.

The Taskforce’s report, Prosperity 2015, submitted in March 2005, is a 10-year Economic Development Strategy Framework for Caloundra City. One of the report’s key recommendations was the creation of Caloundra City Enterprises to implement economic development action plans.
