Sunshine Coast Enterprises (SCE) is an initiative of Sunshine Coast Regional Council.  Council is the sole shareholder and main source of operational funding.

SCE was formed as Caloundra City Enterprises in March 2006 followed extensive consultation with the business community of Caloundra and the southern Hinterland communities of Sunshine Coast. A voluntary Economic Development Taskforce formed by the former Caloundra City Council advocated for the establishment of the company.  The taskforce identified a need to diversify the local area industry base, to reduce dependence on cyclical tourism, retail and construction sectors, and to facilitate a professional, private sector-driven approach to economic development planning and implementation.

The Sunshine Coast Regional Council Corporate Plan 2009-2014 has provided SCE with a new region wide scope as an economic development delivery and business engagement arm of Council.
